Attorney General DeWine Lauds Moving Ohio Forward Demolitions Around Ohio

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today thanked local communities throughout the state that are beginning to take advantage of Moving Ohio Forward grants to demolish abandoned homes. DeWine gave his remarks at the demolition of one such property in Youngstown, where he was joined by Youngstown Mayor Charles Sammarone.

Attorney General DeWine Sues Water System Seller

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) -- Attorney General Mike DeWine today sued Larry Foster, doing business as Water’s Edge, DC Water Solution, and Water Pro, for multiple violations of Ohio’s Consumer Sales Practices Act. Foster allegedly failed to install or improperly installed water purification and softener systems that he sold door-to-door in various Ohio counties.

“Ohio has consumer protection laws and we will enforce them, whether it involves a store purchase or door-to-door sales,” said Attorney General DeWine. “Consumers deserve to get what they pay for.”

Attorney General DeWine Sues Cincinnati Man for Running Craigslist Scam

(CINCINNATI, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today filed a lawsuit against Kevin L. Hunter of Cincinnati for failing to deliver goods he offered for sale on Craigslist, primarily automobile tires and rims. State and federal databases indicate that victims lost more than $50,000 to Hunter over seven years. The civil lawsuit charges Hunter with violating Ohio’s Consumer Sales Practices Act.

“It’s bad enough when a consumer ends up paying for shoddy workmanship or products that don’t perform as promised,” said Attorney General DeWine. “But paying for something and getting nothing is outrageous.”

Attorney General DeWine Announces Community Fraud Forum to be Held in Toledo

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced the next regional community fraud forum his office is hosting this summer is in Toledo on Aug. 16. The free forum is open to anyone and features special workshops for law enforcement, social workers and other caretakers. Discussion will focus on recent consumer and charitable scams affecting Ohioans, along with patient and Medicaid abuse. 

"By reaching out across the state with these regional fraud forums, we continue to bolster our collaborative efforts to protect Ohio’s families," Attorney General DeWine said.
