Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, Scioto County Prosecutor Mark Kuhn, Ohio Board of Pharmacy Director Kyle Parker, and Scioto County Sheriff Marty Donini announced today the conviction of the owner and operator of an illicit "pill mill" whose improperly prescribed pharmaceuticals are believed to have contributed to the massive rise in overdoses and overdose deaths in Ohio.

Attorney General Mike DeWine along with 54 attorneys general in other states and U.S. territories announced on Aug. 29 that they have reached an antitrust settlement with three of the largest book publishers in the United States. Hachette Book Group (USA), HarperCollins Publishers L.L.C., and Simon & Schuster Inc. have agreed to pay a total of more than $69 million to consumers to resolve antitrust claims of an alleged unlawful conspiracy to fix the prices of electronic books (E-books). Approximately $2 million of the settlement will be allotted to Ohio consumers. The publishers have also agreed to change the way they price E-books going forward.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced that Joshua Salyers pleaded guilty today to nine counts of Theft from victims in Ohio and Kentucky who had suffered storm damage to their homes. Salyers, 39, of Butler County, Ohio, stole more than $43,000 from at least nine victims. The guilty pleas follow a joint investigation by the Attorney General's Economic Crimes Division, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, and the Jackson Township Police Department in Stark County, Ohio, in collaboration with Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters.
