Attorney General DeWine Announces Sentencing for Illegal Storage of Scrap Tires

(TOLEDO, Ohio) – Attorney General Mike DeWine announced that Jeremy Goldthwaite, 31, of Toledo, in Lucas County Court of Common Pleas pleaded guilty Monday to one felony count of Illegal Storage of Scrap Tires. Lucas County Common Pleas Judge James D. Jensen sentenced him to pay a $10,000 fine and to serve five years of community control. Goldthwaite is also required to complete 150 hours of community service and pay $2,500 to the Ohio Scrap Tire Management Fund within two years.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Grants Supporting National Crime Victims' Rights Week

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that he is continuing his support of Ohio's crime victims by awarding more than $10,000 in grant funding. The money will help six Ohio organizations observing National Crime Victims' Rights Week, which runs from Sunday, April 22 to Saturday, April 28. National Crime Victims' Rights Week honors crime victims and those who advocate on their behalf.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Settlement Agreement with Professional Solicitor Company InfoCision

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today an Assurance of Discontinuance agreement with Akron-based InfoCision Management Corporation regarding its professional solicitation services on behalf of various charitable organizations.

"Charitable contributions are vital to our communities, and donors must be confident their funds are properly and honestly solicited," said Attorney General DeWine.

Attorney General DeWine Files Complaint Against BP

(CLEVELAND) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine filed a lawsuit today in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court on behalf of four of the state's pension systems – the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS), State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS), School Employees Retirement System of Ohio (SERS) and the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund (OP&F) -- against BP and certain officers and directors and subsidiaries.

Attorney General DeWine Files Joint Motion in Gillispie Case

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced that his office has joined with attorneys for Roger Dean Gillispie in filing a joint motion to stay the appeal of Gillispie's federal habeas corpus case pending in the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals (Gillispie v. Warden, Case No. 11-4417).

Attorney General DeWine Sues 'Buy-Here-Pay-Here' Used Car Dealers, Issues Consumer Warning

(RAVENNA, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced lawsuits against Keep It Moving Auto of Cleveland and Auto Finance/Auto Finance South of Columbus. The lawsuits charge the dealerships and their owners with multiple violations of Ohio’s consumer laws.

Ohio Attorney General and Associations Team Up to Promote Proper Disposing of Prescription Drugs

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and representatives from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Outdoor Advertising Association of Ohio today announced this year's first National Take Back Drug Day on April 28, 2012. In addition the Attorney General announced a campaign with several statewide associations to distribute posters to their members to help remind Ohioans how to report prescription drug abusers.

Attorney General DeWine Sues Florida Telemarketer for Do Not Call Violations

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced a lawsuit against Florida telemarketers FBK Products LLC and FBK Holdings LLC (collectively FBK), and their principals, Gary Kranz, Steven Kranz, and Marc Rona, for calling Ohio consumers who were on the National Do Not Call Registry and violating Ohio’s consumer laws.

Attorney General DeWine Sues Cleveland-Area Man for Running International 'Investment' Operation

(CLEVELAND) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced a lawsuit against Cleveland-area resident Steven Sigman for running an online investment operation that took hundreds of thousands of dollars from international consumers and failed to deliver on its promises. The lawsuit charges Sigman, doing business as Company Express, with violations of Ohio's Consumer Sales Practices Act.
