State, Marietta Company Settle Hazardous Waste Violations

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that the State of Ohio has entered into a Consent Order with Eramet Marietta Inc. (16705 SR 7 South, Marietta). The order resolves violations of Ohio’s hazardous waste laws, including the company’s inadequate response to a previous release of a hazardous waste chromium solution at the facility.

Ohio Attorney General and Associations Team Up to Promote Proper Disposing of Prescription Drugs

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and representatives from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Outdoor Advertising Association of Ohio today announced this year's first National Take Back Drug Day on April 28, 2012. In addition the Attorney General announced a campaign with several statewide associations to distribute posters to their members to help remind Ohioans how to report prescription drug abusers.

Driveway Paver Indicted for Stealing $21,000 from Elderly Couple

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Champaign County Prosecutor Nick Selvaggio announced today the indictment of a man who allegedly stole more than $21,000 from an elderly Mechanicsburg couple. The indictment was the result of a collaborative investigation by the Economic Crimes Division of Attorney General Mike DeWine's Consumer Protection Section and the Champaign County Sheriff.

DeWine Testifies in Washington About Fannie Mae and its Former Executives Sticking Taxpayers with Their Legal Bills

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine testified today before the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee of the House Financial Services Committee regarding the astronomical amount of U.S. taxpayer dollars going to pay for attorney fees to defend Fannie Mae and its former executives. At least $132 million has been spent by taxpayers on legal fees in the case so far, and the tab keeps rising.

DeWine Takes Oath of Office

COLUMBUS – Mike DeWine, surrounded by family and friends in front of the Lincoln at Vicksburg Memorial in the historic Ohio Statehouse Rotunda, took the oath of office as Ohio's Attorney General. His eldest son Pat, a Judge of the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas, administered the oath, as his wife, Fran, held the Bible. Thomas M. Rose, Judge for the United States District Court of Southern Ohio, and DeWine's former law partner, also presided.

DeWine Supports Creation of 'Whistleblower Protection Law' for Ohio

Columbus – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced his support of a state False Claims Act (FCA) being introduced by state Senators Jim Hughes (R-Columbus) and Scott Oelslager (R- North Canton). Often known as a "whistleblower protection law," the proposed legislation would encourage those with knowledge of fraud involving Ohio funds to come forward.

As Grandparents Day approaches, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine again warned grandparents and families to watch for the telephone “Grandparent Scam.” Scam artists call grandparents impersonating their grandchildren, claim to be in trouble, and ask them to send money immediately.
