Owners of Pain Clinics in Dayton and Scioto County Indicted for Illegal Distribution of Prescription Drugs

The indictment alleges that from November 2009 until November 2010 Callihan, who has no formal medical training, served as the primary owner and controlled the day-to-day operations of the clinics. Stegawski, who received a medical degree from Warsaw Medical School in Warsaw, Poland in 1977 allegedly represented himself as a chronic pain management doctor at Eastside Medical Specialist, Lucasville Medical Specialist and at an unnamed clinic located in Southpoint, Ohio.

Ohioans Turned in More Than Nine Tons of Prescription Drugs on Drug Take Back Day

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that Ohioans turned in more than 9 tons of prescription drugs during this past weekend’s Drug Take Back Day events. The 18,672 total pounds turned in was over 4,000 pounds greater that the amount turned in during the fall 2010 Drug Take Back Day.

Ohioans Report Losing $2 Million to Sweepstakes Scams in 2011

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today warned Ohioans to be on the lookout for sweepstakes scams. In 2011, the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Section logged nearly 1,500 complaints about sweepstakes and prizes that reportedly cost Ohioans about $2 million in losses.

Ohio to Receive $2.6 Million in Record Pharmaceutical Settlement

Ohio Supreme Court Upholds Major Tort Reform Provision

The Ohio Supreme Court upheld a state law requiring courts to “bifurcate” tort lawsuits into separate proceedings.  The General Assembly enacted this provision in 2005 to restore balance, fairness, and predictability in Ohio’s civil justice system.

Ohio Part of Agreement with UBS to Recoup Overpayments for Bond Products

(Columbus, OH) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that eligible Ohio agencies, municipalities and others will be able to seek recovery of funds for overpayments for bond products in a joint settlement with several states and UBS. The overall $90.8 million settlement stems from investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, Internal Revenue Service, and states.

(CINCINNATI) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced a lawsuit against the owners and operators of The Beach Waterpark in Mason, Ohio. The lawsuit charges the waterpark with failure to deliver, a violation of Ohio’s Consumer Sales Practices Act.
