Attorney General DeWine Seeks Training Input from Campus Security Officials

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that he is asking participants of the fifth annual Summit on Ohio Campus Safety and Security to offer suggestions within the next 30 days on the types of training they would like to see offered at the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA).

Twenty-Four Charged with Conspiracy for Running a Counterfeit Business Check Scheme

A federal grand jury in Columbus has indicted 24 people, alleging that they conspired to obtain copies of legitimate business checks, counterfeited them, deposited the counterfeit checks in various bank accounts, then withdrew the money at banks and ATMs and split the proceeds.

Attorney General DeWine Convenes New Human Trafficking Commission

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today held the first meeting of the newly convened Human Trafficking Commission. DeWine had announced in May that the Commission would be formed and continue the work started by the Trafficking in Persons Study Commission, which was established by the Ohio General Assembly and had completed its statutory directives.

Associate Sentenced in U.S. Navy Veterans Charity Theft Case

A woman who was involved in the theft of over $450,000 Ohio charitable dollars was sentenced to five years in prison by a Cuyahoga County Judge today, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced. Blanca Contreras had pled guilty on June 22 to one felony count each of theft, money laundering, tampering with records, and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Fugitive Safe Surrender Event in Richland County

(MANSFIELD, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that the Fugitive Safe Surrender program will expand to Richland County this October. DeWine made his announcement at Oasis of Love Church in Mansfield, where the event will be held from October 5th through 8th.

Attorney General DeWine Meets with Prescription Drug Abuse Advisory Council to Work on Prevention and Policy Solutions

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Attorney General Mike DeWine met today with the Ohio Attorney General's Prescription Drug Abuse Advisory Council.  The group will advise the Attorney General on prevention strategies and policy solutions, provide a forum to examine Ohio's efforts to combat the problem of prescription drug abuse, and identify and develop working relationships.
