Attorney General DeWine Files Suit Against Cleveland Foreclosure Rescue Company

(CLEVELAND, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced his office has filed a lawsuit against The Modification Group LLC (TMG), a Cleveland business that offered to help homeowners avoid foreclosure in exchange for $1,995 or more. The lawsuit alleges multiple violations of Ohio consumer law, including failure to deliver.

Ohio Part of Agreement with UBS to Recoup Overpayments for Bond Products

(Columbus, OH) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that eligible Ohio agencies, municipalities and others will be able to seek recovery of funds for overpayments for bond products in a joint settlement with several states and UBS. The overall $90.8 million settlement stems from investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, Internal Revenue Service, and states.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Work-at-Home Settlement, Warns of Job Scams

(Columbus, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced a settlement with Akron-based companies NSA Technologies LLC and Home Job Placement and their owners, Mark W. Jenney, Victor J. Bierman III, and Vincent E. Fisher, to resolve allegations that they violated consumer law when offering work-at-home programs online. Under the agreement, they will pay more than $35,000 to affected consumers.

Ohio Attorney General DeWine Joins Others in Asking Pabst to Change the Formulation and Marketing of "Blast"

Columbus – Attorney General Mike DeWine, along with fifteen other states, Guam, and the City of San Francisco, today issued a letter to Pabst Brewing Company, asking the beer manufacturer to change the formulation and the marketing of its new alcoholic beverage, "Blast." Promoted under the Colt 45 label, Blast is sold in 23.5-ounce containers at 12 percent alcohol by volume with marketing that appeals to young adults.
