As spring officially begins, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today is warning Ohioans to be wary of solicitors who offer roofing, driveway paving, or tree trimming services and demand upfront payment.

DeWine, Hughes, O’Brien Urge Support for Violent Career Criminal Act

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, State Senator Jim Hughes (R-Columbus), and Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien are urging support for the Violent Career Criminal Act, which was introduced this General Assembly as Senate Bill 97. Sponsored by Senators Hughes and Frank LaRose (R-Copley), the legislation would add additional prison time for repeat violent offenders, the group which a study concluded committed the majority of violent crimes in Ohio.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Settlement in BNY Mellon Foreign Currency Exchange Lawsuit

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced the $335 million settlement, subject to court approval, of a class-action lawsuit against The Bank of New York Mellon (“BNYM”) over claims that it unlawfully overcharged pension funds and other banking customers for foreign currency exchange (“FX”) trades.  Combined with settlements with other regulatory and government agencies, the total gross compensation to BNYM’s customers will be $504 million.  BNYM has agreed to pay an additional $210 million in penalties to the United States Department of Justice (“DOJ”) and other government agencies.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that an independent home health nursing services provider has been ordered to pay $165,000 following her conviction on a felony charge of Medicaid fraud.
