Attorney General DeWine Announces $1 Million Settlement with Tobacco Maker

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said today that the state has reached an agreement with Grand River Enterprises Six Nations LTD in which Grand River deposited into a state escrow account $984,185; paid penalties and post-judgment interest of $1,052,000 to the state General Revenue Fund; and paid attorney fees and costs of $82,000 to his office.

Attorney General DeWine and the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission Announce Guilty Pleas in Nation's Largest Mortgage Fraud Case

Attorney General Mike DeWine, the Attorney General's Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission (OOCIC), and Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason today announced that five defendants pleaded guilty to mortgage fraud crimes covering more than 500 real estate transactions totaling $50 million, involving $44 million in fraudulent loans, and earning $31 million in profits.

Attorney General DeWine and Ohio Latino Affairs Commission Warn of 'Notario Scams' Following New Immigration Policy Announcement

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and the Ohio Latino Affairs Commission today urged anyone who is interested in pursuing participation in the federal government's deferred action process not to be deceived into paying for expensive assistance in applying. It's not yet clear what fees, if any, will be necessary and the federal government has asked that these requests not be submitted until it creates a process to accept them.

Attorney General DeWine and Ohio Department of Transportation Announce Settlement with Machinery Transport for I-74 Interchange Damage

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) announced that a settlement has been reached with Machinery Transport, Inc., of Henderson, Texas, for damage sustained to the Interstate 74/Interstate 275 interchange near Cincinnati. Pursuant to the settlement, Machinery Transport paid ODOT $726,757.27 for costs associated with the repair of the interchange.

Attorney General DeWine and Hamilton County Prosecutor Deters Announce Indictment of Man for Stealing from Storm Victims

(CINCINNATI) -- Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters announced today the indictment of a man who allegedly stole more than $43,000 from at least nine victims in Ohio and Kentucky who had storm damage to their homes. The indictment was the result of a collaborative investigation by the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Section - Economic Crimes Division, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, and the Jackson Township Police Department in Stark County, Ohio.

Attorney General DeWine and Bowling Green State University Announce Partnership for New BCI Lab on BGSU Campus

As part of the FY13-14 Capital Appropriations Bill, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced that his office is pleased that Governor Kasich has recommended that his office receive $11.9 million to build a state-of-the-art crime lab and investigations facility for the Bowling Green Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) to be located on the campus of Bowling Green State University.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine was on site today for a multi-jurisdictional search for evidence of possible prescription drug abuse, health care fraud, medical board violations, and money laundering at three locations in Clark and Montgomery Counties.
