Attorney General DeWine Announces GIBill.com will be Turned Over to Veterans Affairs

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that GIBill.com will be turned over to the Department of Veterans Affairs and $2.5 million will be paid to several states as part of a consumer protection settlement with 20 state Attorneys General. The bipartisan multistate enforcement action is a result of the ongoing investigations of the recruiting and deceptive business practices of some proprietary colleges by state Attorneys General.
 
“Our military veterans deserve our thanks and protection,” said Attorney General DeWine. “They don’t deserve to be misled, especially when researching benefits that they earned through their important service.”

Attorney General DeWine Reminds Local Communities of Demolition Grant Deadline

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today reminded local communities to file grant applications with the Moving Ohio Forward Demolition Program by next week’s July 2 deadline. The Demolition Program helps stabilize and improve communities by removing blighted and abandoned homes with funds from the national mortgage settlement reached earlier this year.

Attorney General DeWine, Miami County Prosecutor Announce Charges, Arrests in National Telemarketing Fraud Ring

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Miami County Prosecutor Gary Nasal today announced felony charges against 18 suspects accused of running a telemarketing fraud ring from Ohio and Florida that has stolen millions of dollars from thousands of victims in 41 states since 2007. Thirteen of the suspects have been taken into custody in Ohio, Florida, Indiana, and New York. Those from out of state will be extradited to Ohio.

Juan Jose Gonzalez, a sexually oriented offender, last registered himself as living in Mansfield, Ohio. He was convicted in 2003 on a charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Attorney General DeWine Reaches Agreement with Cleaning Service to Pay Restitution

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today a settlement with Rob’s Cleaning Service, which also used the names “Ductman” or “The Ductman.” In April, Attorney General DeWine filed a lawsuit against the business charging it with multiple violations of Ohio consumer laws.

“We received complaints from dozens of consumers about this business,” said Attorney General DeWine. “But the owner worked with us to reach an agreement where the company will pay restitution and conduct business in compliance with Ohio’s consumer laws."

Attorney General DeWine Sues Owner of Southwest Ohio Computer Repair Shop

(MASON, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced a lawsuit today against Ronald Denicola Jr., doing business as JR Computer Outlet, a computer repair and sales store with a physical location and a website. The lawsuit is a result of multiple consumer complaints regarding the company failing to provide services that were paid for, not giving proper estimates, and not disclosing its refund policy. The Attorney General's lawsuit alleges multiple violations of Ohio's consumer laws.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has announced the start of a mediation program to resolve disputes between local governments and persons requesting public records. The Ohio Attorney General’s Public Records Mediation Program will be available to governments and requestors staring today.

Attorney General DeWine Visits Badges for Baseball Session in Zanesville

(ZANESVILLE, Ohio) – Attorney General Mike DeWine visited a session of Badges for Baseball in Zanesville today, praising the efforts of the local organizers and participants. Last April, Attorney General DeWine and Hall-of-Famer Cal Ripken Jr. announced that the program for youth 10-14 would be starting in Ohio in Zanesville, Canton, and Youngstown.

Attorney General DeWine Requests Help Locating Wanted Sex Offender

According to records from the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, Paul Price Jr. was convicted in March 2008 for the rape of a juvenile female and was released from prison in April 2011.  Authorities said he last registered his address in October, but hasn't been seen since.
