COMING OCT. 1: New e-filing system for tobacco product manufacturers
The Ohio Attorney General’s Office is pleased to announce the launch of its online certification filing system for tobacco product manufacturers: the OHCig Certification Portal.
This new tool is intended to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the certification processes. Although there are likely to be questions and unexpected challenges the first time that manufacturers use the portal, we are confident that companies will quickly come to appreciate the resulting time savings and workflow improvements.
The OHCig Portal rollout will take place in two stages, based on certification type:
- October 2025: All companies will begin using the system for quarterly and supplemental certifications.
- April 2026: Annual certifications and initial certifications will be added to the system.
Once a certification type is available on OHCig, companies must use the system to file that certification.
UPDATE 9/5/2025: The attorney general’s Tobacco Enforcement Unit has contacted all manufacturers by email to confirm or set up company access to the portal. Those that haven’t responded to the email should do so as soon as possible to ensure timely setup of the company’s OHCig account.
