Attorney General DeWine Releases 2013 Economic Development Compliance Report

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today released his 2013 Report to the General Assembly on Award Recipient Compliance with State Awards for Economic Development. The report, which is required to be submitted by the Attorney General to the General Assembly pursuant to statute, analyzes compliance with the terms of economic development awards for recipients which had performance periods ending in calendar year 2012.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Ohio Ocwen Customers to Receive $37 Million as Part of $2 Billion National Foreclosure, Mortgage Servicing Settlement

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced that Ohio is part of the $2.1 billion multi-state settlement with the nation’s fourth largest mortgage servicer, Ocwen Financial Corporation of Atlanta, Georgia, and its subsidiary, Ocwen Loan Servicing. The settlement was agreed to by 49 states, the District of Columbia, and the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau (CFPB).

DeWine, 41 Attorneys General Urge Congress to Again Extend Tax Relief for Distressed Homeowners

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today joined Attorneys General from 41 States and Territories in urging Congress to once again pass legislation extending tax relief for distressed homeowners who receive relief from the National Mortgage Settlement. The request was made in a letter sent to House Speaker John Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and other leaders of the House and Senate.

Twenty-Two Face Heroin Charges in Circleville, Pickaway County Drug Investigations, Additional 17 Charged with Trafficking Other Drugs

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, Circleville Police Chief Harold W. Gray, Pickaway County Sheriff Robert Radcliff, Pickaway County Prosecutor Judy Wolford, and Circleville Mayor Don McIlroy announced today that 22 people are facing heroin trafficking charges as a result of ongoing drug investigations by the Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), Circleville Police Department, and Pickaway County Sheriff's Office.

DeWine, 42 Attorneys General Commend FTC on Patent Troll Investigation

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today joined Attorneys General from 41 States and Guam in publicly supporting the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) proposed nationwide investigation of patent assertion entities, also known as patent trolls. The Attorneys General sent a letter to FTC Chairman Donald S. Clark as part of the agency’s comment period on the project.

Attorney General DeWine Calls for Tamper-Resistant Versions of Generic Prescription Pain Relievers

 Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is once again urging the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to require manufacturers of generic prescription pain relievers to develop tamper-resistant versions of their products.

Attorney General DeWine Issues Statement on ‘Bobby Thompson’ Sentencing

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine issued the following statement today after Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Steven E. Gall sentenced John Donald Cody, also known as ‘Bobby Thompson,’ to 28 years in prison and fined him more than $6 million. Judge Gall also ordered Cody to spend every Veterans Day in solitary confinement.

New Organized Crime Task Force Seizes More Than $1 Million in Heroin, Cocaine, Methamphetamine

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer, Warren County Sheriff Larry Sims, and Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Marlon Miller announced today that an investigation conducted by a newly formed Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission (OOCIC) task force has resulted in the seizure of more than $1 million in illegal drugs.

Attorney General DeWine Announces 19,000 US Fidelis Consumers to Receive Restitution

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, along with the attorneys general of Missouri, Texas, and Washington, today announced that approximately 19,000 consumers nationwide will receive more than $9.3 million total in restitution in connection with US Fidelis, a now-defunct dealer of vehicle service contracts.
