BCI, OPOTA Receive Gold Standard Accreditation, Accreditation with Excellence Award

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) have both been reaccredited under the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies' (CALEA) new Gold Standard Assessment process.

Cleveland Business Charged with Hazardous Air Pollution Emissions

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced a lawsuit against NewKor, Inc., a manufacturing facility on Cleveland’s west side. Emissions from the facility allegedly are causing throat irritation, choking, and nausea for nearby residents.

Wyeth Settlement Results in $2.5 Million for Ohio

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that Ohio has joined with other states and the federal government in a settlement of $491 million to resolve civil and criminal allegations that Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Inc. promoted the sale and use of the drug Rapamune for uses for which it had not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Attorney General DeWine Warns of Utility Scams

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is warning consumers to beware of phone scams involving utilities. Two Ohio consumers reported losing about $800 each after receiving a call from someone claiming to represent a utility company and demanding payment. Dozens of other consumers are reporting unsolicited calls about lowering their energy rates.

Judge Rules that Bradley University Interfered with Kent State University’s Contract with Former Basketball Coach

A Portage County judge has ruled that Bradley University intentionally interfered with Kent State University’s contract with Gene Ford, its former men’s head basketball coach, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Kent State announced today.
