On August 19th, 2013,Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine delivered remarks to attendees at the School Safety & Emergency Management Planning Conference in Columbus. The School Safety & Emergency Management Planning Conference was co-sponsored by the Ohio Attorney General's Office, Buckeye Association of School Administrators (BASA), and the U.S. Department of Education.

Attorney General DeWine released the report of his School Safety Task Force in June, which included a model safety plan for schools and other online resources. DeWine also directed the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) to make Active Shooter training available to school administrators and teachers across Ohio.

Attorney General DeWine Visits Buckeye Boys State

Attorney General DeWine spoke to delegates to Buckeye Boys State on June 12, 2013. Sponsored by the American Legion, Buckeye Boys State is an eight-day hands-on experience in the operation of the democratic form of government, the organization of political parties, and the relationship of one to the other in shaping Ohio government.

Founded in 1936, Buckeye Boys State is the largest Boys State program in the nation with an attendance of 1,200 young men annually. Boys State programs throughout the nation are sponsored by the American Legion, the nation's largest veterans organization.
