Two Zanesville Men Sentenced to Prison in Coshocton Pharmacy Healthcare Fraud Case

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that two former associates of a Coshocton pharmacist have been sentenced to prison in a health care fraud scheme alleged to have taken between $1 million and $2.5 million from state, federal, and private medical insurance companies through fraudulent billing practices. The defendants were sentenced yesterday in United States District Court in Akron.

Attorney General DeWine; Prosecutor McGinty Announce Guilty Pleas in Internet Café Gambling, Money Laundering Case

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy J. McGinty today announced that a New Jersey company that provides technology to so-called internet sweepstakes cafes will cease operations in Ohio after pleading guilty to felony charges related to operating a gambling enterprise and money laundering. In total, five defendants agreed to plead guilty as part of the illegal gambling enterprise organized by VS2 Worldwide Communications.

Attorney General DeWine Announces $30 Million Multistate Settlement with Discount Club Marketer

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, along with 46 other states and the District of Columbia, announced today that Connecticut-based Affinion and its subsidiaries, Trilegiant and Webloyalty, will pay more than $30 million to settle allegations that they misled consumers into enrolling in discount clubs and memberships.

Consumers Should Watch for Scams Related to Affordable Care Act

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Lieutenant Governor and Insurance Director Mary Taylor are warning Ohioans to guard against scams related to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), sometimes referred to as Obamacare, with open enrollment for the new federally-run health insurance exchange in Ohio running through March 31, 2014. Coverage begins Jan. 1, 2014 for those who select a plan by Dec. 15.
