(RIO GRANDE, Ohio)—Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, Rio Grande Police Chief Chris Dodson, and Gallia County Prosecutor Jeff Adkins announced today that three Gallia County men have been indicted on a combined total of 30 felony charges related to the sexual assault of two juvenile females.
The charges follow a joint investigation by the Attorney General's Crimes Against Children Unit and the Rio Grande Police Department.
The following suspects were arrested on Thursday:
Michael Umbel, 41, Rio Grande:
- Unlawful sexual conduct with a minor or corruption of a minor, 11 counts
- Sexual battery, 2 counts
Dustin Jones, 32, Bidwell:
- Unlawful sexual conduct with a minor or corruption of a minor, 12 counts
- Sexual battery, 2 counts
Nicholas Martin, 27, Rio Grande:
- Unlawful sexual conduct with a minor or corruption of a minor, 2 counts
- Sexual battery, 1 count
The three suspects are accused of sexually assaulting the juveniles on multiple occasions over a period of several days in June.
The case is being prosecuted by the Gallia County Prosecutor's Office.
The defendants are currently in custody at the Gallia County Jail.
