(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine issued the following statement regarding today's Ohio Supreme Court ruling in State ex rel. Merrill v. Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources:
"Several complex questions were raised in the Merrill case, and the Attorney General's Office is pleased with this reasonable decision.
"Today's unanimous ruling by the Court reaffirms the constitutional independence of the Attorney General, and the office's standing to appeal lower court rulings on behalf of the state.
"The Court has also set forward the basis where there can be a reasonable approach for proper boundaries that balance the rights of both landowners and the public trust."
