Attorney General DeWine Tours Boys & Girls Club of Washington County

10/24/2013

(MARIETTA, Ohio)— Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today toured the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County to see the enhancements made to their facility as a result of the grant the Attorney General’s Office made to the Ohio Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs.

Earlier in the year, DeWine announced that he was giving a $4.3 million grant to the Ohio Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs for their Great Futures for Ohio's Kids growth program. The grant was funded from the National Mortgage Settlement to assist at-risk youth affected by homelessness and foreclosure.

The Boys and Girls Club of Washington County has used the grant funding to install a gym and a kitchen, and make repairs to their roof.

“Boys and Girls Clubs provide young people with a safe and supportive place to learn and grow, and I am pleased that we have been able to provide funding to help expand the club in Washington County so that even more kids can benefit from the Boys & Girls Clubs experience,” said Attorney General DeWine.

Boys & Girls Clubs offer a safe, positive place for kids to spend their non-school hours with dedicated programming, homework help and meals.
