(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Today, the Ohio Casino Control Commission voted to have the Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) provide security and safety services to casinos in Cleveland and Toledo.
"I am pleased that the Ohio Casino Control Commission has announced that they will be using BCI's law enforcement and criminal investigative services as they prepare for the opening of casinos in Ohio," said Attorney General DeWine.
"BCI has a wide range of capabilities from trained special agents to forensic accountants and computer crimes analysts that it will bring to help the Ohio Casino Control Commission. And, as always, BCI will be working in partnership with local law enforcement and the Ohio State Highway Patrol on this effort," DeWine added.
"The work begins today as BCI prepares to help the Ohio Casino Control Commission in its work to provide security and safety for the new casinos that will be opening in Ohio," said BCI Superintendent Tom Stickrath.
Stickrath announced that he will name Kurt Shearer the BCI Special Agent in Charge of the Casino Gambling Unit.
"Kurt has an extensive law enforcement background and will be an asset to the Casino Control Commission," added Stickrath.
