Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that an Auglaize County woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison on three charges of sexual battery. Lori Anderson, 51, who was an elementary school teacher in Auglaize County at the time of her arrest, pleaded guilty last month to the sexual battery charges.
Anderson and Charles Wycuff, 54, both of Wapakoneta and formerly husband and wife, were arrested last year after an investigation by the Attorney General's Crimes Against Children Unit, which is a division of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), uncovered evidence that a child had been sexually abused. The victim is now an adult.
“The acts of this defendant were unconscionable,” said Attorney General DeWine. “We will continue to pursue those who prey on the vulnerable, especially when they target children.”
Anderson was also classified as a sexual predator and upon release from prison will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.
Wycuff was sentenced last month to four life sentences and an additional 145 years in prison following his conviction at trial on 43 charges of rape, sexual battery, and gross sexual imposition. The abuse occurred from 1997 to 2003.
The crimes committed by both defendants occurred in Auglaize County, but both cases were transferred to Franklin County due to pre-trial publicity. Prosecutors with Attorney General DeWine's Special Prosecutions Section prosecuted the case. Visiting Judge Dale Crawford sentenced both defendants.
