Attorney General DeWine Files Lawsuit Against Former Organizers of Excel Academy Bingo Game

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has filed a lawsuit against the former organizers of a bingo game intended to benefit Excel Academy for illegally paying bingo workers and withholding donations from the school.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Support for Blue Alert Legislation

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced his support for legislation which would create a statewide Blue Alert system in Ohio to assist in cases where law enforcement have been injured or killed in the line of duty. Attorney General DeWine was joined at a news conference announcing the legislation by bill sponsor, State Senator Gayle Manning (R-North Ridgeville), and State Senator Tom Patton (R-Strongsville), whose son was a Cleveland Heights Police Officer who died in the line of duty in 2010.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Stark County Woman will be Sentenced for Craigslist Ticket Scam

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced Kathleen Kinsella of Stark County will be sentenced December 21, after pleading guilty to theft involving a ticket scam on craigslist. In Stark County Common Pleas Court, Kinsella admitted to stealing $5,499 from multiple victims from December 2009 through May 2011.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Sentencing in Medicaid Fraud Case

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that Yvonne Alexander was sentenced to 18 months in prison for Medicaid fraud in the theft of $53,000 in benefit income from a resident of Graceworks Lutheran Services group home, which serves developmentally disabled individuals.

Attorney General DeWine Announces More than $70,000 in Veterans Charity Grants

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today awarded $70,182.00 in grants to veterans charities across Ohio. The grants were funded by proceeds recovered in the investigation of the U.S. Navy Veterans Association, a fraudulent charity scam which solicited donations intended to benefit veterans.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today accepted a 2011 Equal Opportunity Day Award from the Columbus Urban League. The award recognized the Attorney General's Office for 17 years of ongoing support for the Minority Crime Victim Assistance Program (MCVAP).
