(McARTHUR, Ohio) -- Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, Vinton County Prosecutor Trecia Kimes-Brown, and Vinton County Sheriff Shawn Justice announced today the arrest of a McArthur woman on a 12-count indictment alleging she sexually assaulted a child.
A Vinton County Grand Jury today indicted Cassandra Holsinger on three counts each of Rape, Sexual Battery, Gross Sexual Imposition, and Kidnapping.
"The acts this woman is accused of committing are absolutely sickening," said Attorney General DeWine. "The suspect was in a position of trust with the child, but thankfully the juvenile was brave enough to tell someone what happened."
The victim is less than 13-years-old."
My office presented the facts yielded during the investigation and will continue to advance the prosecution to seek justice," said Prosecutor Kimes-Brown. "We believe that all victims, including the weakest and most vulnerable, deserve the fullest protections of our system."
Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation agents with the Attorney General's Crimes Against Children Unit investigated the case in conjunction with the Vinton County Sheriff's Office.
"We take this case very seriously, and we are pleased that the grand jury chose to indict," said Sheriff Shawn Justice. "Sexual assault cases involving female perpetrators happen, but they aren't always reported."
The 28-year-old suspect is in custody at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.
