Attorney General DeWine Charges Cleveland Talent Agency Owner with Consumer Law Violations

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced a lawsuit against The Event in Orlando Inc. (“The Event”) and its owner Andrew Andrekopoulos of Cleveland. According to the lawsuit, the business sold talent-contest packages to consumers whose children wanted to be “discovered” but misrepresented its services and failed to give consumers proper notice of their cancellation rights.

Ohio Claimants to Receive Payments from the National Mortgage Settlement by June 17th

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced that eligible Ohioans who lost their homes to foreclosure will be sent settlement payments by June 17th. The payment checks will be worth approximately $1,480 for each loan serviced and will be mailed between June 10th and June 17th.

Attorney General DeWine, U.S. Attorney Dettelbach Announce Sentencing in Medicaid Fraud Case

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and U.S. Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach today announced that Rolando Sepulveda, of Youngstown, was sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay $349,579.96 in restitution for submitting fraudulent bills to the Ohio Medicaid Program for transportation services his ambulette company never provided.

Attorney General DeWine Applauds U.S. Supreme Court Decision Upholding DNA Collection Laws

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today applauded the United States Supreme Courts ruling in Maryland v. King, which upheld the collection of DNA from persons arrested for felonies as constitutional. DeWine signed an amicus brief in support of the Maryland law, which is similar to Ohio's law, Senate Bill 77.
