Cleveland Business Charged with Hazardous Air Pollution Emissions

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced a lawsuit against NewKor, Inc., a manufacturing facility on Cleveland’s west side. Emissions from the facility allegedly are causing throat irritation, choking, and nausea for nearby residents.

Wyeth Settlement Results in $2.5 Million for Ohio

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that Ohio has joined with other states and the federal government in a settlement of $491 million to resolve civil and criminal allegations that Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Inc. promoted the sale and use of the drug Rapamune for uses for which it had not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Attorney General DeWine Warns of Utility Scams

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is warning consumers to beware of phone scams involving utilities. Two Ohio consumers reported losing about $800 each after receiving a call from someone claiming to represent a utility company and demanding payment. Dozens of other consumers are reporting unsolicited calls about lowering their energy rates.

Judge Rules that Bradley University Interfered with Kent State University’s Contract with Former Basketball Coach

A Portage County judge has ruled that Bradley University intentionally interfered with Kent State University’s contract with Gene Ford, its former men’s head basketball coach, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Kent State announced today.

DeWine, 48 Attorneys General Ask Congress to Extend Criminal Jurisdiction of Communications Decency Act

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today joined attorneys general from 48 other states and territories in asking Congress to extend to states the criminal jurisdiction created under the Communications Decency Act of 1996 (CDA). The change is necessary to help fight human trafficking and exploitation of children, as well as reflect changes in internet usage in the past 15 years, the attorneys general wrote in a letter to the chairmen and ranking members of the House and Senate commerce committees.
