WANTED SEX OFFENDER: James Gayhart

7/11/2012

(DAYTON, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is asking for the public’s help to find a convicted sex offender who recently stopped reporting his address.

James Gayhart spent six years in prison at the London Correctional Institution after he was convicted on four counts of rape in Montgomery County in 1995.  His victim was a juvenile female.

Gayhart last registered his address as 167 Church Street in Dayton.  A warrant was issued for his arrest last month when he failed to check in with authorities as required by law.

The suspect could be driving a 1995 purple Chevrolet S10 with Ohio plates.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of James Gayhart should contact the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) at 855-BCI-OHIO (855-224-6446).

This news release is part of Attorney General Mike DeWine’s Crimes Against Children Initiative.  As part of the Crimes Against Children Initiative, Attorney General DeWine will publicize convicted sex offenders who have victimized children and are wanted on outstanding warrants.  Other parts of the initiative include the establishment of a Crimes Against Children Unit at BCI, creation of a rapid response team for crimes against children, and specialized law enforcement training through BCI and the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA).
