Elder Abuse Investigation Concludes with Guilty Plea

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost today announced the conclusion of an elder abuse investigation through a plea agreement with Christine Warkentine filed in Clinton County Common Pleas Court. The attorney general’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Special Prosecutions Section handled the investigation and prosecution.

Summary for Proposed Presidential Election Amendment Certified

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office today certified a summary of a petition for a proposed amendment to the Ohio Constitution. The proposed amendment would change the way Ohio’s Electoral College members vote in presidential elections. An alternative summary for the same proposed amendment was rejected.

Yost Calls for Strong Opioid Warning

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost is calling for a new report on pain management to adhere to guidelines already published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for decreasing the risk of opioid misuse. Yost, along with 38 other state and territory attorneys general nationwide, sent a letter today to Dr. Vanila Singh, chief medical officer for the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health.

Yost Leads Effort to Protect People with Pre-Existing Conditions

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost today filed an amicus brief with the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals urging the court to reverse its Texas v. United States decision that found the Affordable Care Act (ACA) unconstitutional. The state of Montana joined Ohio in its brief.

Guernsey County Jury Convicts Rapist

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost today announced the conviction of a Belmont County man with charges of rape, sexual battery and aggravated burglary. A Guernsey County jury found Lawrence A. Hartley guilty of three first-degree felony rape charges, four third-degree sexual battery charges and a first-degree felony aggravated burglary charge.

Owner of Addiction Treatment Centers Indicted on Medicaid Fraud, Drug Trafficking Charges

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced today that an owner of three addiction treatment centers in southern Ohio has been indicted on 34 felony charges, including Medicaid fraud, drug trafficking and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.
