Attorney General DeWine Announces Columbus Clinic, Pharmacy Raids 05/21/2013

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced that multiple federal search warrants were served on May 21, 2013, in connection with an ongoing prescription drug abuse investigation in central Ohio. Authorities with the Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) assisted multiple agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Agency's (DEA) Tactical Diversion Squad, in serving the federal search warrants at the following locations:

  • Columbus Southern Medical Clinic, 2912 South High Street, Columbus
  • Pharma 1 Pharmacy, 1763 South High Street, Columbus
  • Drug Store Pharmacy, 2940 Groveport Road, Columbus

Ohio Attorney General's Safe Neighborhoods Initiative

On May 9, 2013, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced a bold, new, holistic initiative aimed at decreasing violent crime in Ohio by targeting Ohio's most violent offenders. The Attorney General's Safe Neighborhoods Initiative will begin in Akron and eventually spread to other crime-ridden neighborhoods within communities in our state. The goal of the Attorney General's Safe Neighborhoods Initiative is to target offenders with a history of gun violence, work with them to prevent future violent crime, and lead them to resources that will assist them in breaking the crime cycle. It's an effort that requires a passionate commitment from a number of community leaders, including those in churches, victim groups, law enforcement, and government.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Violent Career Criminal Act

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Senator Jim Hughes (R-Columbus) will announce legislation this morning aimed at decreasing violent gun crimes. The Violent Career Criminal Act proposes longer prison sentences for certain repeat offenders convicted of a crime involving a firearm. The Act also changes prison terms for some repeat offenders convicted of gun specifications. Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien will also be in attendance.
