Attorney General DeWine Seeks Recovery of More than $10 Million in Development Loans to Defunct Solar Company

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, on behalf of the Ohio Development Services Agency and the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority (OAQDA), today filed two separate lawsuits against a defunct solar power company which defaulted on more than $10 million in state loans. The lawsuits against Willard & Kelsey Solar Group and its shareholders seek to recover loans made by the former Ohio Department of Development and the OAQDA.

Fraudulent Breast Cancer and Veterans' Charity Operation Ordered to Pay $977,628

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that a fraudulent charitable operation has been ordered to pay $977,628 in damages, restitution, and other costs. Donors throughout the U.S. contributed to The American Breast Cancer Federation and The American Veterans Federation, both created by Brandon Malone of Youngstown, but the organizations did little or nothing to help breast cancer patients or veterans.

Attorney General DeWine Charges Discount Drug Service with Unfairly Debiting Bank Accounts

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today filed a lawsuit charging Cincinnati-based Queen City Script Care with making unauthorized debits to consumers’ bank accounts, failing to provide refunds, and taking unfair advantage of consumers. Many victims are elderly and low-income.

Attorney General DeWine; City of Mansfield File Suit Against Negligent Property Owner for Demolition Costs

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Mansfield Law Director John A. Spon today announced that lawsuits have been filed against a negligent property owner and his company, whose homes fell into disrepair and were subsequently demolished by the City of Mansfield. The lawsuit seeks to reimburse the City for costs associated with two properties in Mansfield which were recently demolished.

Attorney General DeWine Seeks $94,000 Reimbursement from Used Car Dealership

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today filed a lawsuit against Clark Motor Company of Heath and the three Newark brothers who ran the dealership. The Attorney General’s lawsuit seeks reimbursement to the state’s Title Defect Recision Fund and charges the business with failing to deliver motor vehicle titles as required by law.

Ohio Unsolved Homicides: Harry Smith

As part of his Ohio Unsolved Homicides Initiative, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is asking for information regarding the murder of a World War II veteran in Ross County.  In an effort to gather new information on the case, Jerry Smith and his four children today announced a new $5,000 reward for information leading to a conviction for Smith's murder. The information must be received in the next 90 days.

Attorney General DeWine Announces Members of OHLEG Advisory Group

 Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced the members of an advisory group formed to review the existing protocols and safeguards currently in place to prevent abuse of the Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway (OHLEG), which is Ohio’s secure Web-based law enforcement platform that includes electronic tools, databases, and other applications that help law enforcement solve and prevent crimes.
