Redesign of Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy Focuses on Proven Techniques, Experienced Experts: Live Classes Resume, New Online Course Reflects Fresh Approach

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost today announced initial steps taken in the redesign of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA). To better meet the evolving needs of Ohio law enforcement, OPOTA is sharpening its focus on law enforcement techniques proven to reduce harm in communities. As part of this effort, OPOTA has begun delivery of law enforcement training on topics identified by officers as most-needed. Further, the training is being provided by experts in a manner that will be less costly to law enforcement agencies, taking officers out of their jurisdiction less frequently.

Ohio ITT Students to Receive $20.6 Million of Debt Relief Secured by AG Yost: Students of the former for-profit school were victims of predatory loan practices

Attorney General Dave Yost has secured $20.6 million in debt relief for former ITT Tech students in Ohio as part of a nationwide settlement with 48 attorneys general and the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Columbus Man Indicted on 19 Felonies in Human Trafficking Investigation

A Franklin County man has been indicted on 19 felony counts, including involuntary manslaughter and trafficking in persons, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien and Columbus Division of Police Chief Thomas Quinlan announced today.
