DeWine Seeks Consumer Restitution from Two Central Ohio Home Improvement Businesses

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Attorney General Mike DeWine sought restitution for consumers harmed by two Central Ohio home improvement companies in lawsuits filed today against Bee Improvements LLC, of Columbus, and Cost Saver Home Improvements LLC, of Hilliard.

"Consumers naturally and legally have the expectation that when they hand over their hard-earned dollars for a product or service, they are going to get what they paid for," said Attorney General DeWine. "We will continue to watch out for consumers and protect Ohio's families."

Canal Winchester Home Health Aide Sentenced for Fraud

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, along with Carter M. Stewart, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, and Edward J. Hanko, Special Agent in Charge for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced today that Lady M. Whitney, 44, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, was sentenced to 48 months in prison and ordered to pay more than $235,000 in restitution for submitting fraudulent bills to the Ohio Medicaid Program for medical services that were not provided.


OPOTA Invites Public Comment During Accreditation Assessment

The Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) will undergo a four-day, on-site evaluation to ensure compliance with the Public Safety Training Academy Accreditation Program. As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and the general public are invited to offer comments regarding OPOTA by telephone.


Attorney General DeWine Thanks Ohio House for Passing Sweepstakes Bill

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine thanked the Ohio House of Representatives for its passage today of HB 7. The bill, which would establish strict limits on sweepstakes gaming at Internet cafes, passed by a vote of 66-29.
