Mahoning County Man Arrested on Charges of Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor

9/18/2014

(STRUTHERS, Ohio) -- Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Struthers Police Chief Tim Roddy announced today the arrest of a Struthers man on three felony charges of unlawful sexual conduct involving a minor.

Christopher George, 44, was arrested yesterday afternoon by officers with the Struthers Police Department and agents with Attorney General DeWine's Crimes Against Children Unit, which is a division of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).

George is accused of engaging in sexual conduct with a child under the age of 15 who was a family acquaintance.

"I created the Crimes Against Children Unit specifically to assist local agencies in investigating those who prey on Ohio's kids," said Attorney General DeWine.  "There is nothing more valuable than our children, and those who harm them will be held accountable for their actions."

"Our investigation found that this defendant was in a position of trust, which allowed him to victimize the child on more than one occasion," said Struthers Police Detective Jeffrey Lewis. "This case is an example of state and local law enforcement combining resources to protect Ohio's youth."

George is currently in the custody of the Mahoning County Jail.

The Mahoning County Sheriff's Office assisted with the investigation.
