Attorney General DeWine Statement on Trumbull County Grand Jury

9/26/2012

(WARREN, Ohio)—After an investigation by both the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and by attorneys in his office,  Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today reported that a Trumbull County Grand Jury did not return any indictments on two employees of Trumbull County Children Services Board. The investigation looked into whether actions by employees constituted any child endangerment or other violation of Ohio Law.

“The Ohio Attorney General’s Office completed a thorough investigation into actions of the agency employees after this heinous incident came to light,” said Attorney General DeWine. “The grand jury concluded that the employees did not commit criminal violations of the Ohio Revised Code."

While special prosecutors from the Attorney General's Office investigated the agency employees, the Trumbull County Prosecutor has pursued cases against the parents of the victim.
