Attorney General DeWine Announces $17 Million in Crime Victim Services Grants

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that 276 Ohio crime victim services agencies have been awarded more than $17 million in grant funds.

Consumers Should Watch for Scams Related to Affordable Care Act

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Lieutenant Governor and Insurance Director Mary Taylor are warning Ohioans to guard against scams related to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), sometimes referred to as Obamacare, with open enrollment for the new federally-run health insurance exchange in Ohio running through March 31, 2014. Coverage begins Jan. 1, 2014 for those who select a plan by Dec. 15.

Five Charged in Organized Crime Investigation

Today Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph Deters, Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil, West Chester Police Chief Erik Niehaus, Madeira Police Chief Frank Maupin, and Silverton Police Chief Bruce Molett announced the indictments of five people wanted in connection with an organized crime investigation in southwest Ohio.

Secure Portal for Schools to Submit Safety Plans Now Online

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Ohio Superintendent of Public Instruction Richard A. Ross today announced that Ohio schools may now begin submitting school safety plans via a secure online portal to help first responders in case of an emergency. The portal is one of the many recommendations of the Attorney General’s School Safety Task Force which have been implemented since the task force announced its recommendations earlier this year.

Former Pharmacist Pleads Guilty to Health Care Fraud, Drug Adulteration Charges

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that a former Coshocton pharmacist has pleaded guilty to federal charges alleging that she took between $1 million and $2.5 million from state, federal, and private medical insurance companies through fraudulent billing practices.

Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation Exceeds Sexual Assault Kit Testing Goal

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced that the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) has exceeded its goal of testing 1,500 rape kits during the first year of the Attorney General's Sexual Assault Kit (SAK) Testing Initiative.
