(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost today announced his office will provide civil rights training to approximately 1,700 General Motors employees in Toledo on Thursday, March 28 and Friday, March 29.
Attorney General Yost sent a letter to GM in January offering this training in response to allegations of racial harassment at its Toledo Powertrain plant and GM quickly responded. This week’s training sessions were scheduled yesterday.
“The best way to keep these jobs here in Ohio is to do a good job and respect your coworkers,” said Yost. “Treat the people in your workplace with dignity. Exercise humility and do your part to make sure that everyone goes to work in a place with mutual respect and safety.”
All of the plant’s employees are being scheduled to attend one of nine sessions on Thursday or Friday.
The Civil Rights Section of the attorney general’s office frequently conducts free presentations across the state, designed to increase awareness and encourage voluntary compliance with fair employment and other laws.
