(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost today announced that Dublin Police Chief Heinz von Eckartsberg will serve as the assistant superintendent of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) beginning on Monday, March 25.
He will work alongside BCI Superintendent Joe Morbitzer, who began his tenure with BCI this past month after 32 years with the Westerville Police Department, the past 14 as chief of police. Chief von Eckartsberg has served in the Dublin Police Department for the past 36 years, most recently becoming police chief in March 2011.
“Law enforcement begins at the local level and we are thrilled to add Chief von Eckartsberg to our team,” Yost said. “His addition only strengthens our breadth of knowledge and experience in assisting our local law enforcement partners.”
Chief von Eckartsberg’s last day with Dublin Police will be Friday, March 22.
“Heinz is a model public servant who has provided outstanding leadership to the agency, this city and the profession as a whole,” said Dublin City Manager Dana McDaniel. “He has taken the Dublin Police Department to even higher levels of professionalism and we are grateful for the service and sacrifices of both Heinz and his family.”
The Ohio Attorney General’s BCI provides expert criminal investigative, identification and laboratory services to local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies upon request at no cost.
