Father Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison on Endangering Children, Felonious Assault Charges

2/23/2015

(NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio) -- Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that a New Lexington man will spend the next seven years in prison after pleading guilty to seriously injuring his infant daughter.

Perry County Common Pleas Judge Tina Boyer sentenced Kyle Robison, 25, to serve seven years in prison this morning.  A grand jury indicted Robison in July, and he pleaded guilty to felony counts of endangering children and felonious assault in December.

Prosecutors with Attorney General DeWine's Special Prosecutions Section prosecuted the case.

Investigators with the New Lexington Police Department began investigating Robison in January 2014 after his two month old daughter was brought to the hospital with severe injuries, including a skull fracture.

"Protecting Ohio's children has always been one of my top priorities, and those who harm children in this state must be held accountable," said Attorney General DeWine.  "The victim in this case was a helpless, innocent infant, and it is only appropriate that this defendant serve time in prison for the pain he caused."

"This case is an example of local and state law enforcement working together to defend those who are too young to defend themselves," said New Lexington Police Chief Scott Ervin.  "I am pleased that this defendant will spend the next several years in prison for this very serious crime."

Agents with the Ohio Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) assisted with the investigation.

The child was released from the hospital and is in the custody of her mother.
