Attorney General DeWine Offers Gym Membership Tips

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today offered advice for consumers who plan to buy gym memberships in the new year after the Attorney General’s Office received about 250 fitness center complaints in 2014, double the number received in 2013.

Attorney General DeWine to Seek Lead Plaintiff Status for Ohio Pension Funds in Securities Lawsuit

Following a recent review of securities and accounting fraud allegations, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced that he has filed a motion for two of Ohio’s pension funds to lead a class of investors in a lawsuit against American Realty Capital Properties (ARCP), Inc. The news comes after the company, a real estate investment trust based in New York City, disclosed that ARCP officials intentionally misstated company financials, and subsequently covered up the accounting irregularities, resulting in approximately $3 billion in losses for the company’s shareholders, including State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS) and the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).

Woman Indicted for $50,000 Theft from Elderly Man

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and the Richland County Prosecutor’s Office today announced that a Mansfield woman has been indicted for defrauding an 82-year-old man of more than $50,000.

Ohioans Lose Hundreds to Sugar Bowl Ticket Scams

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today warned consumers to be skeptical of individuals offering tickets to the 2015 Sugar Bowl, after two Ohioans reported losing $800 each to Sugar Bowl ticket scams on Craigslist.

Attorney General DeWine Announces National $90 Million Cramming Settlement with T-Mobile

Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that Ohio has joined the other 49 states, the District of Columbia, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Federal Communications Commission in a settlement with T-Mobile USA Inc. that includes at least $90 million in payments and resolves allegations that T-Mobile placed unauthorized third-party charges on consumers’ cell phone bills.

Seventeen Indicted in Connection with Drug Trafficking Organization

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine joined Stark County Sheriff George Maier, Stark County Prosecutor John Ferrero, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to announce a 126-count indictment against 17 individuals accused of taking part in a drug trafficking organization operating in Stark County.
