(JACKSON, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost today announced the conviction and sentencing of a Jackson County man on two felony counts of retaliation. A jury found that Willie Summerville’s threats toward the judge and victim in a previous proceeding warranted another guilty verdict.
“Lady Justice wears a blindfold but she is certainly not deaf,” Yost said. “This guy ran his mouth after his first conviction and wound up in the same courthouse for a second helping of prison time.”
Summerville was convicted of menacing by stalking in December and, upon being sentenced to 18 months in prison, threatened the victim and judge in open court as he was removed from the courtroom. Summerville was sentenced to an additional four and a half years in prison.
The Special Prosecutions section of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office prosecuted the case.
