Ohio Consumers to Receive Refunds under AG Settlement with Out-of-State Travel Companies

4/14/2016

(TOLEDO, Ohio)—Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced that consumers will receive refunds under a settlement with a group of out-of-state travel companies that held sales presentations at hotels in Cleveland, Columbus, and Toledo.

Under the settlement, A2Z Vacations of Wyoming and related companies agree to pay more than $44,000 over the next several months to reimburse 11 consumers who filed complaints after buying an A2Z travel club membership or attending a sales presentation. The companies also have agreed to pay a $7,500 civil penalty and to comply with Ohio’s consumer protection laws.

The first portion of consumer restitution ($10,000 total) is being distributed to consumers this week.

“We’re constantly looking out for consumers,” Attorney General DeWine said. “We’re pleased these companies have agreed to provide refunds and to follow Ohio consumer protection laws.”

The settlement resolves a consumer protection lawsuit filed in 2015 against A2Z Vacations LLC, Great Quest Travel Inc., World Wide Travel Resources Inc., Travel Supplier of America Inc., and Universal Concepts Inc. over the companies’ advertisements and cancellation policy.
