Attorney General DeWine Announces Recommendations to Help Improve Ohio Foster Care

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today released the recommendations of his Foster Care Advisory Group. Convened in December, the group’s mission was to recommend solutions to the issues raised at the Attorney General’s Child Safety Summits held in eight Ohio cities. Findings released today encourage positive changes to improve the child welfare system with a focus on the safety and well-being of the children in foster care in Ohio.

Former Mayor of Stockport Convicted on 21 Counts

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced that a Morgan County Common Pleas jury has convicted former Stockport Mayor Michael Shane Shuster of 21 felony counts including eight counts of gross sexual imposition, seven counts of sexual battery, and six counts of rape.

Attorney General DeWine Announces $850,000 Judgment Resulting from Former Weirton Steel Asbestos Incident

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today that a Jefferson County judge has ordered Arthur David Sugar and several of his affiliated companies to pay an $850,000 civil penalty resulting from the improper demolition of the former Weirton Steel facility in Steubenville and the subsequent asbestos contamination.

Attorney General DeWine; City of Warren File Suit for Demolition of Former Hospital Site

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, Warren Mayor William D. Franklin, and Warren Law Director Greg Hicks today announced that a lawsuit has been filed against the owners of the former St. Joseph Riverside Hospital to require demolition of the property and reimburse the city for associated costs. The lawsuit was filed by the Ohio Attorney General on behalf of the City of Warren and Warren Deputy Health Commissioner Robert Pinti.

Attorney General DeWine; City of Springfield File Suit Against Negligent Landlord for Demolition Costs

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced that a lawsuit has been filed against an out-of state landlord whose homes fell into disrepair and were subsequently demolished by the City of Springfield. The lawsuit, filed jointly by the Attorney General and City of Springfield, seeks to reimburse the City for costs associated with three properties which were recently demolished.

Attorney General DeWine Seeks Consumer Restitution and Penalties from Toledo-Area Roofer

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced a lawsuit against Barnes Construction Companies, Inc. and its owners Christopher and Christina Barnes. The lawsuit charges the Maumee roofing business with performing shoddy work and failing to deliver services to consumers.
