On Monday, 05 NOV 2007, a homicide occurred sometime between 9:00 – 9:05PM at the In-Town Suites extended stay motel located at 8981 Kingsridge Drive, Miamisburg, Ohio 45342. The homicide took place outside of the building on the sidewalk which borders the parking lot and the front entry doors. The victim had parked his car in the front lot and was walking from it to the front entry doors when a black male, wearing all black clothing and a hooded sweatshirt, approached him from the parking lot. The black male got within 5 – 8 feet of the victim and shot him once in the forehead. The black male then fled to the rear of the building and got into a dark colored late 90’s model Chevrolet Tahoe which was driven away by another unidentified male. The Tahoe fled east on Kingsridge Drive then turned south on Lyons Ridge Drive. No license plate was ever obtained for the Tahoe. The perpetrator used a silver, long barreled revolver. The recovered slug is being kept at the Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab for any future comparisons. According to witnesses that actually saw the shooting, no words were spoken between the perpetrator and the victim. The perpetrator came from behind parked cars in spaces across the lot from the victim to make his approach. The approach was described as a quick walk and the perpetrator did not run until after the shot was fired. The perpetrator was described as having a short, stocky build but the clothing was loose fitting and the descriptions obtained were varied. The victim was described as a loner who had no close friends and had not been in contact with his own family for the four years prior to the homicide. The victim was a gambling addict who played in Texas Hold “Em tournaments throughout the SW Ohio region. He was also a poker dealer at the Orioles Club in West Carrollton, Ohio. The victim was also very active playing in on-line poker tournaments. The investigation did not uncover anyone who the victim was indebted to. All persons interviewed did not know the victim outside of either playing a poker game with him or in a game the victim was dealing. The victim remained to himself during the games and did not associate with anyone outside of the poker games. Investigators could not locate any person who had any disagreement or personal grudge with the victim. The victim was unmarried and had no girlfriends.
