On Sunday, November 13, 1960, 14yr old Nancy Eagleson and her 5yr old sister, Sheryl were walking home from the movie theater. The time was just after 7:00pm and the walk was not very far. The girls stopped for a soda at a local restaurant before heading home, only a few minutes walk to the east. A white male wearing dark glasses driving a dark car stopped and asked if they needed a ride. Nancy replied they were close to home and didn't need a ride. The man got out of his car and forced Nancy into his vehicle as Sheryl jumped on the man in an attempt to prevent him from taking Nancy, and he pushed her away. The man sped off with Nancy and Sheryl ran to safety at a neighbor's house. At the time, this occurred on a main highway from Paulding to Defiance, Route 111. Nancy's body was found in a woods nearly 8 miles northeast of the abduction site. The woods is just off Route 111 on Road 176. She had been shot one time and sexually assaulted.
