Presenting at National Conference

6/14/2017
Sarah S. Shendy, a law enforcement training officer at the Attorney General’s OPOTA Richfield, will serve as a presenter at an upcoming national conference.

The Middle Eastern Law Enforcement Officers Association invited Shendy to teach a workshop at the group’s training conference, which is set for Aug. 23-24 on the campus of the University of Michigan – Dearborn.

The association’s goal is to create positive interactions between law enforcement and the Middle Eastern community through outreach and mentorships and to provide assistance to local law enforcement agencies with language, cultural, and training support.

Shendy has served as a presenter at the Ohio Attorney General’s annual Law Enforcement Conference and, recently, at the Two Days in May Conference on Victim Assistance, where she talked about the basics of the Muslim faith, its origins, the five pillars of Islam, and the role of the faith in the Middle Eastern and Arab-American community.

At the Michigan conference, Shendy will talk about OPOTA’s Trauma Informed Policing continuing professional training course and other topics.
