Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy

Law enforcement in the United States is made up of about 18,000 federal, state, county, and local agencies. Each agency has varying legal and geographic jurisdictions, ranging from single-officer police departments to those with more than 30,000 officers.  Ohio has more than 34,000 sworn officers for the entire state, but New York City Police Department (NYPD) has the largest in the United States with approximately 40,000 sworn officers for the city alone.
