Attorney General DeWine Reminds E-book Purchasers that Notice for Credit Process has Begun

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) - Attorney General Mike DeWine today reminded Ohioans who may have purchased certain electonic books (e-books) that the notice process is under way in the $69 million national settlement with several publishers, announced earlier this year, to resolve antitrust claims of an alleged unlawful conspiracy to fix the prices of e-books. Approximately $2 million of the settlement will be allotted to Ohio consumers.
 
"This settlement helps consumers who were overcharged to get back some money for their past purchases," said Attorney General DeWine. "We hope to ensure competitive e-book prices in possible future purchases."

Attorney General DeWine Announces Arrest of Indicted Craigslist Scammer

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Morrow County Prosecutor Charles Howland announced today the indictment and arrest of alleged Craigslist scammer Nicholis Corey Garner. The indictment alleges that Garner is a member of a larger group that has used postings of cars, trucks, and all-terrain vehicles for sale on Craigslist to steal tens of thousands of dollars from victims across the country.
