Attorney General DeWine Announces Arraignment of Youngstown Police Sergeant

6/7/2013

(YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio) – Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today the arrest of Youngstown Police Sergeant Robert Lodwick, after an investigation completed by the Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).

Lodwick was arraigned this afternoon on one count of Importuning, a felony of the fifth degree, and one count of Illegal Use of a Minor in Nudity-Oriented Material, a felony of the second degree.  The charges stem from an incident involving a 14-year-old female victim, whom Lodwick knew.

BCI's Investigation Division and Crimes Against Children Unit began looking into the case when asked by the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office.

"We created our Crimes Against Children Unit for this exact reason," said Attorney General DeWine. "No one should prey on a child, particularly not someone who is in a position of authority and trust."

Lodwick was arrested around 3 a.m. this morning, while on duty.  The Youngstown Police Department assisted in the arrest.
