Attorney General DeWine Announces Arrest of Boardman Man on Felony Importuning Charge

7/16/2015

(YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio) -- Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today the arrest of a Boardman man on a felony charge of importuning after he allegedly solicited an undercover agent online.

Charles Jaminet, 31, was arrested by agents with the Attorney General's Crimes Against Children Unit last night.

Investigators took the suspect into custody when he arrived at an area hotel after allegedly arranging to meet who he believed was an underage female to engage in sexual activity.

The arrest was made as part of an operation conducted last night by the Ohio Attorney General's Office, Austintown Police Department, Mahoning County Law Enforcement Task Force, Mahoning County Sheriff's Office, and Mahoning County Prosecutor's Office which targeted prostitution and child solicitation.

Eleven additional individuals, who are unrelated to the importuning case, were arrested on charges such as soliciting prostitution and promoting prostitution as part of the operation.

The effort also looked for signs of human trafficking.

Attorney General DeWine created the Crimes Against Children Unit, which is part of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, in 2011.  The unit assists law enforcement agencies throughout the state to investigate cases involving juvenile victims.   In 2014, the unit worked 150 cases in 46 Ohio counties, executed 24 search warrants, and made 19 arrests.
