(CINCINNATI) -- As part of his Ohio Unsolved Homicides Initiative, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is asking for information regarding the murder of a 24-year-old Cincinnati resident in 2007.
John Harris was shot to death outside his home on Fergus Street in Cincinnati's Northside neighborhood on June 7, 2007.
According to Cincinnati Police, who believe that robbery was the primary motive for the crime, Harris had just returned home from visiting relatives in his hometown area of Lincoln Heights when he was attacked. The attackers stole Harris' car, as well as his necklace, which was known to attract attention due to its value.
Harris' car was found nearby, however the suspects evaded capture after a high-speed pursuit that ended in Walnut Hills.
Detectives with the Cincinnati Police Homicide Unit are continuing their efforts to locate anyone who may have information regarding this senseless murder.
"Although it has been over six years since this horrible tragedy occurred, we will continue to work on seeking justice for the Harris family," said Detective Greg Gehring of the Cincinnati Police Homicide Unit. "Any information from the public is appreciated, and we encourage anyone with information to contact the Cincinnati Police Department or BCI."

Attorney General DeWine's Ohio Unsolved Homicides Initiative was developed in September of 2012 in an effort to create a statewide database to include all of the unsolved killings in the state. The goal of the initiative is to bring widespread visibility to the cases, increase the possibility for tips, and help jurisdictions compare details of unsolved crimes.
"Right now there are more than 1,800 cases listed in the database," said Attorney General DeWine. "I urge those with information on Mr. Harris' case or any other unsolved crime in Ohio to come forward and help authorities bring those responsible to justice."
