Middle School Assistant Coach Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

(AUSTINTOWN, Ohio)—Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today the arrest of a middle school assistant coach on child pornography charges.

Rex Bosley, 59, of Austintown, was arrested this afternoon and charged with one felony count of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, one felony count of pandering obscenity involving a minor, and one felony count of illegal use of minor in nudity-oriented material or performance.

Bosley is employed as an assistant girls’ basketball coach at Austintown Middle School.  He is currently in custody at the Mahoning County Jail.

The arrest follows a joint investigation conducted by the Attorney General’s Crimes Against Children Unit, Austintown Township Police, the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.

Attorney General DeWine created the Crimes Against Children Unit, which is part of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, in 2011.  The unit assists law enforcement agencies throughout the state in investigating cases involving juvenile victims.   In 2014, the unit worked 150 cases in 46 Ohio counties, executed 24 search warrants, and made 19 arrests.
