Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine Announces Pilot Program for Heroin Addiction Recovery

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine joined Lucas County Sheriff John Tharp, Lucas County Prosecutor Julia Bates, members of the Lucas County Board of Commissioners, Dr. John Laux of the University of Toledo, and other community officials to announce the development of a new pilot program aimed at helping those suffering from heroin addiction get the assistance they need to move towards recovery.

Officials Warn of Government Imposter Scams

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters today warned that scam artists are posing as government and law enforcement officials demanding that consumers pay money immediately. In Hamilton County, a consumer recently reported that her debit card was charged nearly $400 in the scam.

Attorney General DeWine Announces $35 Million Multistate Consumer Settlement over Kidney Transplant Drug

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced that Ohio and 41 other attorneys general have reached a $35 million settlement to resolve allegations that Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc. unlawfully promoted Rapamune, a drug approved for use by kidney transplant patients. Pfizer Inc., the parent company of Wyeth, agrees to be bound by the settlement.

Ohioans Report Rash of “Spoofed” Phone Calls

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today warned that since last week, more than 30 consumers across Ohio have reported receiving “spoofed” phone calls, or calls that appear to come from the consumer’s own phone number or from a number very similar to their own.
